Fishing in Velfjord
Velfjord is the perfect place for fishing enthusiasts. Hundreds of larger and smaller lakes, several salmon rivers, a large number of sea trout rivers, as well as the fjords "Velfjorden" (with its 7 sidefjords), and "Tosenfjorden" and "Ursfjorden". The accessability is particularly good: it takes less than a 20 minutes to reach all of these places. (Some places can be closed for salmon fishing at times, so please check in advance)
Most fishing licenses can be obtained at Statoil and Coop Marked in Hommelstø.
Nepåselva
From Sjøforsen, where the salmon begins the migration, it swims upstreams through one of the two waterfalls here, and further through the lake Finnvikvatnet, before they reach Nepåselva. At the lower parts of the river - Tveitan-, you get to test the salmon as they arrive the stream. The salmon usually don't stay very long here, but migrates further up the river.
Known and good fishing spots in the river are:
Tveitan - Rothølen - Skoghølen - Saghølen - Jamdalshølen (Nepåshølen) - Medvatnet

Sausvassdraget
Fishing in virtually untouched nature.
The lake Sausvatnet is 5 km2. and stretches about 10 km. It's a great lake for fishing, both for trout and salmon. An evening at Sausvatnet is magical, and you can get a good catch too.
In addition to the lakes Sausvatnet, Finnvikvatnet, Skogvatnet and Flottvatnet, this watershed has three major salmon rivers; Nepåselva, Fugellielva and Saus/Skogselva. The trout-bearing portion are from Sjøforsen and up to Nepåskulpen, an excellent fishing spot!
Sausvassdraget really stands out with its beautiful scenery in the lowlands of Velfjord, and is permanently protected from any power developments.

Velfjorden
Velfjorden looks a bit like a big hand, with its wide main fjord and seven sidefjords. Most of these sidefjords are uninhabited, or nearly uninhabited. The main fjord is about 20 km long. If you add the continuation, Langfjord, it's about 30 km. The other side fjords are 2 to 6km long. The depth is 400 meter at the deepest point. The bottom of the sea is very uneven and unsuitable for trawl and major professional fishing boats.
The entrance of the fjord's is open, with no threshold. This means very good replacement of water and oxygen, which in turn means abundant supply of nutrition and food, and thus a lot of fish. The fjord has significant local fish strains.
